The Guinean Coalition for Cultural Diversity is a non-partisan, secular, non-profit association dedicated to defending and promoting cultural diversity at both the national and international levels.
The objective of the Guinean Coalition for Cultural Diversity is to establish a national organizational framework bringing together administrators, operators, and cultural actors in Guinea across the following sectors: music, visual and performing arts, cinematography, audiovisual, digital technologies, literature, festivals and cultural events, education, traditions, and heritage. Its aim is to uphold, in Guinea and beyond, the principle that cultural diversity is a fundamental right of humanity.
The coalition’s mission focuses on informing, raising awareness, fostering dialogue, providing training, and mobilizing its members, the public—particularly opinion leaders—and public authorities on issues related to cultural diversity and trade negotiations, as well as promoting broader understanding of the 2005 UNESCO Convention.
In the Republic of Guinea, the National Assembly ratified the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions in 2008. This was made possible thanks to the involvement of the Guinean Coalition for Cultural Diversity (CGDC).
The Guinean Coalition for Cultural Diversity is a member of the International Federation of Coalitions for Cultural Diversity (IFCCD).
