The Beninese Coalition for Cultural Diversity was officially created on 4 November 2008 in Cotonou, at the initiative of a few cultural actors committed to the promotion of cultural diversity. This initiative was launched the day after Benin ratified the Convention, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Literacy, Handicrafts and Tourism.

The implementation of the Beninese coalition for cultural diversity reflects the willingness of Beninese cultural actors to promote cultural differences in a context of globalization.

Objectives of the CBDIC:

  • Promote cultural identity as an essential and fundamental element of cultural diversity,
  • Promote the values and wealth of cultural diversity as a source of everyone’s contribution to the construction of a peaceful world, far from the mere logic of trade,
  • Support the strengthening of the process of dialogue of cultural identities
